History of skateboarding

Skateboarding is known for many years. Over the years, skateboarding has developed, as well as skateboards also improved themselves. People are starting to ride a skateboard for different reasons. But no matter why you chose a skateboard, ride a certain time, you will notice yourself, how fast is the development of skateboarding is.

The origin of skateboarding

The very first skateboard appeared in 1950 by the true fan of skateboarding. Those were self-made skateboards that were simple boards with wheels bolted to them. Skateboarding was closely associated with surfing, and most early skaters used the same movements as the surfers. 

On that time, "skateboarding" did not exist. Instead, skating on the boards were called "sidewalk surfing" (or in another way - "terra-surfing").In the 1960's skateboarding became a hit, and so continued until 1966.For the next four years, people have lost interest in skateboarding for an unknown reason, and sales fell. Few people produced various magazines, although they were not in demand. It was until the beginning of the 1970s when skateboarding actually began to revive again.

The development of skateboarding since 1970.

It all started with the early 1970s when the new skateboard model was presented. The new model came with kicktail which is an important feature of the modern skateboard. And the new deck design with multiple wood layers allowed to get much fun with better flexibility and reliability. New skateboard possessed characteristics which came with increased quality and more comfortable ride. And once again skateboarding became more and more popular. The next improvement was in the wheels. They were made of polyurethane.Since skateboarding again became popular, many companies have decided to engage in the production of skateboards. Eventually, they began to remodel boards by their own design. Skateboards have become wider with different types of colors. Conventional skateboards were made of maple wood. Although there have been companies that have experimented and created decks with aluminum and fiberglass. Thanks to these improvements. And, skaters had started to ride on rails and obstacles along with street. And, skateboarding tricks were started to invent since then.

Skateboarding today

Skateboarding is extremely popular nowadays. There are no urban streets across the US that you won't find a skateboarder.
Skateboard wheels are still made from polyurethane. Modern skateboard wheels have maximum rigidity and reduced resistance on hard surfaces.
Modern boards tend to decrease weight. That is why the use of smaller diameter wheels are increasing. It also enables advanced skateboarders to perform more stunts and go much faster. Now it produced a huge variety of colors and styles to suit every taste of skateboarding. So you can always find the right board for you.


Skateboarding in its development has come a long way. Each year, skateboarders are significantly increasing than previous years, Thousands of people get pleasure from riding a skateboard. And the story continues ...
