Skateboarding safety

Skateboarding Safety is a complex topic. Of course, it is impossible to guarantee one hundred percent safety while riding on a skateboard. However, following few simple rules can bring you one hundred percent mark!

Put on the protection

I know my mother, who has a rule for her children - if you have wheels under your feet then you must have a helmet on your head. This is a good rule I believe!

Helmets- The best defense and the most important safety gear for skateboarders. One guy went skating in the skate park without a helmet, fell and hit his head. Maybe it would not be so bad, but now it is a vegetable. So, wear a helmet, and never go for skateboarding without wearing it tight.Once you have watched competitions where skater fell and injured his head, despite the fact that he had a helmet. However, it was not worn tightly and flew right before the fall. It's a shame to fall off at the final of the competition.

Wrist Gloves - Prevents your wrists from fracture and other injuries due to fall. The problem is that you will need a little time to get used to it. Instead, you have to train yourself during the fall to roll over your shoulder, not to catch the grounds with your wrists.

Knee pads - used mainly for driving in the ramp and vert skateboarding, but they can be used when riding in the park or even on the street. It depends on whether you know how to fall correctly.

Elbow pads - They are required while skateboarding on the ramp where the greatest chance of getting injured. There is less chance in street skateboarding to get your elbows injured. However, if there is a chance of such an injury, it is best to protect them.

Groin pads - For you guys who think about their future, then you will definitely need the groin pads. Always wear the groin pad if you are going to ride on rails above the knee grind and perform tricks. They are a little uncomfortable, but you can get used to everything. It is still better than to attract the attention of passing girls

Safe thinking

More than wearing protection, your safe riding on a skateboard is the ability to see and know what you're doing and what's going on around you. Here are some tips:

  • Evaluates the environmental situation. While Riding a skateboard, try to notice who else is riding next to you, and do not stand in their way. Most importantly - do not stop in the middle of the skate park!
  • Do not overestimate your abilities. If you've never tried the trick before, reacted calmly to the fact that you need a few tries to execute it. Do not rush - relax and enjoy learning skateboarding. Learn to assess your real skills, not chase after the other to master skateboarding at your own pace. Do not worry about time.
  • Do not try to ride a skateboard while you are sick or tired. If you're tired, Arrange yourself a break! Pro skater Rob Dyrdek said in an educational video, "Show me the way" ( "Show Me The Way" says that most of his injuries happened because he knew that he was tired, but continued training.
  • Do not do anything stupid. This is a good rule not only in skateboarding but in real life! Doing Something Stupid may seem funny, but it could lead you to injury.

Here are some basic principles to learn how to know you are safe while riding on the board. However, there are other things that you can think yourself. The main thing to realize is that the safety gears and your parents are not the only things for your safety. Take own responsibility for your safety!

Ride in safe places.

Sure, there are places that are safer for skateboarding. Skatepark, skating clubs or your yard or school, an ordinary park - this is an excellent place for skateboarding. Parking facilities are good too. There are places completely unsuitable for riding on a skateboard. Highways, private land, and a place where you can get hurt or in trouble with the authorities.Sometimes a skate park can be a problematic place. To this did not happen, does not take someone else's place, or do not ride at the same time with unpleasant skaters. It's better to join a skateboard club or community in your area to improve your skill. You can find them easily on the street.

It's responsibility

No one can make a skater skate safely. The only responsible of your safety is only you. You should be able to assess your own limits. If you force yourself to impress a girl or your friends, then you have more chance of getting injured. You can find a lot of youtube video about this.

Your security is only your decision! Men are inherent to blame others when they have something does not work. Take care of your health by yourself! Most people, even children know what to do for their safety.A little common sense and a bitter awareness can make skateboarding safe, and you can stay away from injury.
